Driving Automotive Innovation
Since our founding, PopcornSAR has been at the forefront of AUTOSAR technology

High-performance CPUs are being applied to ECUs (Electronic Control Units) that run automotive software. This enables the use of applications like autonomous driving AI that require significant computing resources, and dramatically reduces the number of ECUs per vehicle from around 130. The automotive SW platform that emerged to meet these changes is the AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform.
The AUTOSAR standard is the only international standard responsible for vehicle control, consisting of Classic Platform and Adaptive Platform. Classic Platform, starting from a traditional perspective, is an SW platform emphasizing real-time capability and safety for direct control. On the other hand, Adaptive Platform is an SW platform capable of running software that uses significant computer resources, like autonomous driving AI. AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform was first applied by Volkswagen in November 2019 for mass production of the all-electric ID.3, and global automotive companies including Toyota, Hyundai, BMW, and Volvo are now accelerating its adoption.
Just as smartphones led new businesses and ecosystems, automobiles will soon enter an era of providing new mobility services. AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform is like a catalyst for this new era of mobility services.
